Jersey City Pride Parade
It’s that time of the year again! Tomorrow (8/27 from 12-8pm) the streets of Jersey City will be pumping Adam Lambert, Clay Aiken (jk), Madonna, Cher and Lady Gaga. Don’t be alarmed by the costumes and makeup, it’s just the Jersey City gay pride parade! I feel like this event will be predominately men which is A-OK with me. If it was geared towards women things could be a little different. Ani Difranco, Dixie Chix, Indigo Girls…basically Lilith Fair which is the perfect spot to go to if you want to let your tears out after a breakup.
There’s a lot going on tomorrow and we all know that JC is into community events so I think it will be a great day for all. Pint will be opening at 2pm with drink specials and cute men in tight shorts. It’s a very small bar though so you can take a trip down Newark Ave and celebrate at any of those bars if you’re feeling a little cluster phobic. Events have been going on all week and it’s really cool to see how diverse and accepting/loving this city is.
Personally, I’m looking forward to Laura Cheadle, a blues and jazz singer, to hit the stage at 3:30pm (took me awhile to find that out. I had to go onto her personal FB #stalker)
Club Transmission (IG: club_transmission-150 Bay Street) will be hosting the after party. It’s a large venue with a beautiful bar and great cocktails. There will be no cover, $5.00 Heinekens and Coronas, $8.00 house liquor drinks, $10.00 glasses of wine and great tunes to dance to. Can’t wait to get my groove on!
